ASL Art and Community Engagement

ASL Art and Community Engagement is an inclusive, interactive event held in the park that bridges the gap between Deaf and hearing communities through the power of creative expression. This project creates a welcoming, barrier-free space where participants of all ages can learn about Deaf culture and American Sign Language (ASL) while participating in hands-on artistic activities.

Access information:

ASL Interpretation: Two certified interpreters will be available on-site to facilitate communication between Deaf and hearing participants at all art stations.

Accessible Seating: Ten lightweight, accessible chairs will be provided. This includes a 24-inch-high table specifically designed to serve children and wheelchair users.

Mobility Access: All stations are covered by waterproof tents with 7-foot height clearance and 4-foot-wide pathways to ensure easy maneuverability for wheelchairs and strollers.
